Barcodes

Bar Types

It is important to know what kind of barcodes SPOT typically uses, and where.

128(128L)

- Character set A allows for uppercase characters, punctuation, numbers and several special functions such as a return or tab.

- Character set B allows for upper and lower case letters, punctuation, numbers and a few select functions.

39(39M)

The Code 39 barcode is the easiest to use of alpha-numeric barcodes and is designed for character self-checking, thus eliminating the requirement for check character calculations.

I2of5(Interleaved 2 of 5)

- Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) is a numeric-only barcode used for encoding pairs of numbers in a high density barcode format similar to code 128 character set C.

Code 93

- The symbology of the Code 93 character set consists of barcode symbols representing characters 0-9, A-Z, the space character and the following symbols: /, + , %, - , . , $ .

QR Code

- QR-Code is an efficient, two-dimensional (2D) barcode symbology that allows easy encoding of MECARD data including phone numbers and web URLs. This symbol can withstand damage without causing loss of data.

Scanner Types

Code Scanner (CR900/CR2600 series)

The CR900FD is an entry-level, area imaging bar code reader with flexible decoding capabilities. The CR900FD features full omnidirectional reading of standard 1D bar codes, and gives users the option to upgrade to 2D or stacked bar code reading at a later date with the purchase of a license key. The CR900FD has several major advantages over single-line laser scanners and linear imagers by providing full omnidirectional reading of standard 1D symbologies, as well as the ability to read bar codes off of mobile phone screens, all at linear scanner prices. Can read bar codes off Smart Phones and tablet screens.

Honeywell/Intermec SG20B

The Intermec SG20B general-duty wireless 1D barcode imager is handheld, comes with a USB cable and a charging base, and can be used to scan and decode linear one-dimensional (1D) barcodes. An LED aimer produces lines of light in an omnidirectional pattern to scan barcodes at different angles. Wireless Bluetooth capability allows the barcode reader to transmit data to a computer up to 32.8' away from the charging base. A programming utility can be used to configure the barcode reader and host system. The charging base can be plugged into the USB port of a computer to transmit barcode data. It can withstand drops of up to 4' on a concrete floor. A stand enables the barcode reader to be used in a fixed position.
